I have a suggestion for you.
    A book.

It's called Matched, by Ally Condie. And it is great. I was meandering through Barnes and Noble last week when I stumbled upon it. I was looking for a new read, but I wanted something from a different author than what I normally read. The poster sitting next to this book said "Did you like The Hunger Games? Then you're sure to liked Matched." Or something to that effect. So I thought to myself "Hm. Yes, I did like The Hunger Games. I guess I'll give it a shot."

Holy cow. This book, for me, is like a mix between Anthem by Ayn Rand, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. {All of which are great books, if you haven't read them. When I finished, I was slightly disappointed, because it just kind of ended. So I did some googling, and discovered that the sequel, Crossed, is coming out Fall 2011.. I can't wait! Not only is there a sequel, but it's going to be a trilogy. And Disney is looking into film rights. bah. I am so excited. Here's the offcial website for the book. And down there is a video from the website that kind of explains the book. But very briefly. To give you a better idea, I'll type the little part that's in the front cover:

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It's hardly an price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the matching screen, Cassia know with complete certainty that he is the one... until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path no one else has ever dared follow - between perfection and passion.

If you can't tell I really love this book. And guess what! The author is LDS! She lives just outside of SLC. Ok. I'm gonna stop talking. Go get this book and read it. Then let me know what you think (:

I gots my captain back.

Melissa is home.

I drove to Vegas last night with parents to retrieve her from the airport. She was so happy and smiley and tan. I hugged her, and it was quite lovely. We drove home, and talked for a bit. Well. She talked. I listened to all of her adventures. And then I layed down next to her, and the next thing I knew we were at my house. ha! Totally slept pretty much the entire way.

Anyway! Me sleeping wasn't the point of this. She is home! And I love her! I didn't take my camera with, so I don't have any pictures to go along with this, but soon enough I will have some to post. So, until that happens, I hope you're having a splendid holiday vacation. (: bye.

I often have my moments where I can't wake up in the morning. Last night as my mom was getting ready for bed, I asked her if she'd call me {she leaves early in the morning for work} at 7:00 to make sure I was up, because I had a final at 8:00 this morning. Maddi would be at my house to pick me up around 7:40, and we would be on our merry way. Momski told me she'd make sure I was up, and I told her thank you. Later as I was snuggling into bed, I was going over how today would go.

11:00PM: go to sleep
6:50AM: alarm clock blares. tell it to be quiet.
7:00AM: mama calls. I'm up and out of bed.
7:00-7:30AM: attempt to look decent and eat breakfast
7:40AM: leave with Maddi for the college. ace test. enjoy life.

Seems simple, right? Wrong.

This is how it really went: {the parenthesis are what I was thinking.}
12:00PM: go to sleep
6:15AM: mom comes into my room and tells me that it's 6:30.
   {First of all, why are you telling me this? Second, I can read both my phone and alarm clock, and they both say it's 6:15. You're not tricking me very well.}
6:20AM: dad comes in and asks me what I need to make frosting for tonight. {Why the heck are you asking me about frosting? I'm no where near coherent enough to have a conversation, let alone think of what I need for a recipe.}
6:25AM: mom comes back and asks if I'm awake. I mumble.
    {apparently not. Because I'm still dead in my bed.}
6:35AM: I almost fell asleep. Almost. But then dad comes in and flips on my lights. Bad idea. He was not happy about the twelve trillion clothing articles and papers strewn all over the place. He told me to wake up and clean my room.
     {leeeaaavvvvvee meeeeee alooooooooooooone.}
6:37AM: mom comes back in and tells me to get up.
6:40AM: dad is back. asking me about frosting again.
     {seriously?!?! I don't care about frosting! I'm trying to sleep!}
6:43AM: He's back again. This time flipping my lights on and off. My eyes were attempting to adjust to the newly added light show, and my brain was trying to force its way through the fog of sleep to think of something to say to make him leave. But all I came up with was "You are SO ANNOYING!!!!"
6:48AM: This time he didn't even say anything. He just came in and turned my lights on. I was pretty much pissed, and told him this was not how I liked waking up. I got up and slammed my bathroom door and laid on the countertop, halfway in the sink, head on a chegg box trying to soak up my last ten minutes of rest.
6:50AM: alarm clock goes off. This was when I should have been peacefully awaking from my lovely nights rest.

*sigh* 7:00 was all I asked for.

I absolutely love this song and video.

there's no blame.

The glove compartment is inaccurately named, and everybody knows it.
So I'm proposing a swift orderly change,
'cause behind its door, there's nothing to keep my fingers warm.
And all I find are souvenirs from better times, before the gleam of your tail lights fading east to find yourself a better life.

I was searching for some legal document, as the rain beat down on the hood.
When I stumbled upon pictures I tried to forget.
And that's how this idea was drilled into my head.
'Cause it's too important to stay the way it's been.

There's no blame, for how our love did slowly fade.
And now that it's gone, it's like it wasn't there at all.
And here I rest, where disappointment and regret collide, lying awake at night.

sweaters and side parts.

What: a cheery, ugly sweater holiday gathering.
When: Wednesday, December 8, 2010.
Who: Jake Ras and myself.

When he invited me to join him at the ambassador Christmas party, I was more than thrilled. Then when he informed me that the attire was ugly sweaters, and that he would be sporting a nice side part, I was doubly thrilled.

I awaited his arrival at my house. When I heard a knock on the door I skipped down the hall to see a glowing mass through the window. When I opened the door, this is what I was greeted with:

No, your eyes have no deceived you. Those are brightly lit LED lights poking through his lovely sweater. After I dried the tears from eyes, we ventured on to his truck to go buy some soup for the party. His sweater was so bright that he looked like a light show at a concert. There was one particular blue light on his nipple that kept shining right into my eye. He turned the lights off so he wouldn't get pulled over for being a distraction to other drivers. After getting the soup {that was for the homemade soup competition.. winner got a lovely magic bullet. Jake and his friend decided to cheat and pick up some clam chowder from Brick Oven.}

We finally made it to the hotel where the partay was being hosted. Our sweaters definitely were two of the best. Although, there was one guy that had a red sweater with a kitten popping out of a wreath. That was definitely one of my favorites.

Yes. That shirt is green velvet. Definitely hideous. Thanks to Maddi for letting me borrow it and the sweater.

I pretty much don't know any of those people's names except Fota's. It was still quite the glorious night.

I enjoyed my time with Jake and his side part and comb. Excellent times. (:

Thanks Jake.

The microwave is broken.
Which means I can't heat up my rice bag.
I am in extreme need of it right now.
My face is sad.

Save The World.

If any of you didn't know, Maddi is a power ranger.

A lady-gaga-crotch-grabbing-out-to-save-the-world power ranger.

Occasionally she has her moments.

But we still love her, and her world saving ways. (:

What the Christmas?

There's nothing like putting up Christmas decorations while listening to Justin Bieber.
Ok. We weren't really listening to the Biebz. Nobody would have allowed it. But he was most definitely on repeat in my head!

Now Romeo and Juliet, bet they never felt the way we felt. Bonnie and Clyde never had to hide like we do. You and I both know it can't work, it's all fun and games 'til someone gets hurt. And I don't, I won't let that be you.

Aaand continuing..
My brain is just now figuring out that Christmas is only a few weeks away. I'm still thinking that it's October, but then I step outside and mother nature smacks me in the face, and says "Yo. It's December. Put on a jacket." The other day I wrote November on one of my papers.. ha! Yeah. I know. Awesome.
Anywho! Schnid and I busted out the holiday decor, and went to town. {Ok. I guess that technically Kyle got it all down from the top shelf of the garage. And we didn't really do anything other than the tree and nutcrackers.. but. It's better than nothing.} So, without further ado, here's our lovely tree. (:

cutie, huh? Yep. Knew you'd agree.
